ABOUT ME

Amber Bri-Jett

Hey,

I’m Amber. I am a social change advocate, historian, artist, and educator. I love to research deeply and explore the connections between history and our present. I write about intersectionality, take pictures, and create paintings of things I see while traveling.

I grew up as an only child, surrounded by generations of family, who told me stories of the past. These stories were further solidified by the accompanying historical artifacts provided by the landscape of my native city, Macon, Georgia. An early understanding of my history has kept me grounded, connected, and accountable.

I was fortunate to grow up, spending time in the home my Maternal Great-Great-Grandmother owned and that my grandmother and her siblings were raised in.

From as early as I can remember, I would visit that home. I followed my Great-Great Aunt closely; I learned about plant-life and received some of my earliest cooking lessons. I am reminded of her each time I see begonias or eat cheese straws.

I carry the tradition of storytelling with me and believe that change happens when people’s stories are truly heard and when the truth is not hidden.

I am the mother of three boys Tory, Chauncy, and Aubrey, and the wife to my best friend and college sweetheart, Taurean (Tee).

ABOUT THE BLOG

Go Amber Stop: Life in the intersection

Go Amber Stop: The Blog is a labor of love. It brings me a sense of peace to produce content for this blog. I have been publicly silent for so long, while only sharing my insight and knowledge with a select few people. I hope creating this space here, on GoAmberStop can educate, inspire, and promote healthy change for those of us in the invisible illness community.

Life In The Intersection: I hope to raise public awareness about intersectionality. I also think by producing this blog, I will pay closer attention to the ways I hide, bend and break, where I should stand firm. I hope that medical professionals or caregivers find meaningful information here. I hope those with invisible disabilities find a community here.

Lifestyle: I’m talking about day-to-day life, family, health and beauty, fashion, and pop-culture. I also talk about my gradual switch to “modified-minimalism” as well as my gardening and painting processes.

Travel, History, & Education: Navigating life knowing and understanding the history of things versus the lies you have been told (or truths omitted) makes you maneuver differently.

The blog visits some well-known and not-so-well-known historical sites. Detailing their present-day significance. Preparing you for your journey.

DEI (diversity, equity, & inclusion) is massively important. I discuss policies and rituals we currently live by and their origins.

Recipes: I experiment with various fruits and veggies for juices and mocktails. When I find mixtures that I like, I share them with y’all. I also post my favorite easy meals to cook as requested by some of my closest friends.
