5 Tips to Help Your Dreams Flourish and Sabotage Destructive Thinking

Destructive thinking prevents you from accomplishing your goals and robs you of the power to pursue your dreams. But, there are certain things you could do which will sabotage these thoughts, banish them to the deep dark recesses of your mind so that you can finally flourish in the sunlight, water your dreams and watch them grow. The great news is, learning to dream big is surprisingly simple to accomplish.

1. Write Down Your Dreams

Writing down things puts them in perspective. Although a journal is a straightforward tool, it is used by almost every great successful person in business because it provides a creative outlet for your ideas and also gives you a roadmap to follow for making your dreams a reality.

2. Create a Vision Board

You lose sight of important things when they are not physically available to you. Creating a vision board helps put the things you're dreaming of, the things you equate with success right in front of you. Pinpointing what makes you feel accomplished will continually serve as a constant reminder of the goals you have in life, which will, in turn, motivate and encourage you to achieve the success you desire.

3. Empathize with Yourself

Give yourself some grace. Know yourself, learn about yourself, and embrace your flaws. Perfectionism can be crippling, and everyone is different. Embrace your differences and make them your unique advantage. Identify your inner critic, who is the inner voice that tells you can't, or that pushes you harder. Over time you will have to learn to give yourself the same empathy you would give someone else.

4. Practice Building Others Up

It seems hard to believe, but the truth is, the more you practice building up others with your words and thoughts, the easier it becomes to say great things about yourself. Learning to do this changes the entire game. You could practice with your colleagues at work, friends, and family. If you lose your confidence while saying it out loud then, write them down in your journal, emails, or even on the sticky notes you stick on their desks in the office. Perfecting the art of brightening the days of other people can make you excellent at lightening up your own day as well.

5. Surround Yourself with Positive Role Models

Whether you realized it or not, a lot of what you do is reactionary. Take control of your life by re-evaluating your environment. The manner you approach business and the way you treat people around you is greatly influenced by the people you surround yourself with daily.

Success comes much easier when you surround yourself with people who are consistently building others up, achieving success of their own, offering words of encouragement to people like you who are working towards their personal goals in life.

Success isn't just determined by making huge steps and taking giant leaps. You can do all the work and remain in the wrong psychosocial environment and remain stagnant and unhappy. Removing yourself from tiny, destructive thinking is not just about a physical environment is also about people and attitudes.

Surrounding yourself with highly motivated, positive, and productive people, means that you are more likely to deal with constructive criticism that will aid in your success. Unlike blanketed criticism, that will simply sap your motivation, waste your time, and limit your opportunities.

Bringing your dreams to life and blocking all of the sabotaging factors from invading is not easy. But, the mindset shift is fulfilling.
